Commercial manager

Our client, a leader in the fruit export industry, based in the Durbanville area is looking for an energetic Commercial Manager (Subtropical, Table Grapes, Dates and Citrus fruit) for its Marketing Businesses. The challenge will be to develop strong relationships with the various internal and external customers plus maintaining world-class levels of service and efficiency.

EXPERIENCE:

• Proven track record in sales / key account management / distribution / fruit export
• Knowledge of all aspects of fruit exports
• Extensive knowledge of international markets
• Proven negotiating and communication skills
• Practical experience in handling people issues
• Proven strategic leadership ability

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Optimization of Sales and Market penetration to Middle East, East (China, Hong Kong), UK, Scandinavia, and the rest of Europe :

• Key Account Management
• Planning programs with existing receivers
• Doing market development that supports the Company’s high level objectives
• Negotiate prices and terms on a continuous basis
• Execute & co-ordinate planned programs
• Manage customer administration
• Negotiate claims

Optimisation of Returns by:

• Working cross-functionally alongside departmental managers
• Collaborating with Product Managers to support product objectives
• Collaborating with Technical Managers for quality assurance
• Collaborating with Supply Chain management to optimize logistics
• Collaborating with in-house Documentation company to manage shipping documents
• Collaborating with Finance and Grower payments departments

Travel:

• Travel within South Africa to support local teams and customers
• Travel internationally to manage relationships and network with customers

Financial:

• Overall responsibility for development and attainment of financial targets, budgets and financial controls per selling region.
