THE POSITION ENTAILS:

•Control all Customs and Excise transactions in order to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
•Keep abreast of amendments to Customs and Excise legislation in order to ensure compliance with the requirements of relevant government legislation.
•Liaise with Customs as well as internal departments to evaluate the correctness of utilized tariff headings, values in order to minimize risk of over-payment / under-payment of customs duties and customs penalties.
•Monitor customs refunds, provisional payments and customs bond requirements to ensure effective financial control and recovery of company funds.
•Assist MIDP department with various functions to ensure compliance with import and export requirements and obtain maximum benefit from MIDP claims.
•Monitor service levels of contracted service providers through CPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) and discuss corrective action to be implemented.
•Audit the quality output of our external service providers to ensure compliance with relevant quality requirements and standards to prevent risk of penalties and exposure (Duties, tariffs).
•Participate in the cross-divisional operation task team dealing with critical situations to ensure uninterrupted operations and avoid line stoppages.
•Liaise with courier companies in order to ensure efficient handling of urgent cargo by couriers.
•Facilitate clearance of bills of entry for diplomats and disabled people’s vehicles to ensure compliance with customs regulations, agreed procedures and customer satisfaction.
•Initiate risk management strategy in order to compile reports on the level of compliance with relevant legislation.
