Investigating Officer (Ref. RD/32/0112)
Duties:
· Investigating student offences;
· investigating internal as well as external cases;
· liaising with the SAPS, magistrate’s office, municipality and security companies in order to support the University’s Protection Services Division;
· internal liaison with all University departments and divisions;
· administration and record keeping.
Requirements:
· Diploma in Police Administration or an equivalent qualification;
· knowledge of the Criminal Procedure Act;
· advanced knowledge pertaining to investigating all kinds of affairs;
· outstanding interrogation methods and analytical skills;
· a minimum of ten years’ appropriate investigation work;
· investigative experience in similar environments;
· understanding of different clients’ distinctiveness and needs;
· sound interpersonal relations;
· ability to give guidance and advice in the field of investigations;
· a good command of both Afrikaans and English;
· computer proficiency in the MS Office suite;
· ability to write reports in Afrikaans as well as in English;
· ability to work under pressure;
· ability to work independently and lead others;
· innovative/creative thinking skills and working methods;
· a valid Code EB driver’s licence;
· own transport to and from the work place;
· accessibility and availability at all times;
· no criminal record.
Recommendations:
· Ability to network with other investigation units and similar services;
· Ability to communicate in a third South African language, e.g. Xhosa.
