Job Description

A very well-known FMCG company in Paarl is looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to manage and source products in accordance with company requirements.  The Procurement Manager’s duty is to discover the best ways to cut procurement expenses, so that the company can invest in growth and people.

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Source products internationally and locally in accordance with company requirements

• Build good supplier relationships

• Liaise with new and existing suppliers (cost effective/alternative products)

• Negotiate and agree the most favorable terms possible with suppliers

• Obtain quotations

• Compile and maintain the database of approved suppliers in accordance with company requirements

• Generate weekly and monthly replenishment reports

• Review MRP (Material Requirement Planning) and place orders for products according to set targets

• Plan inventory based on sales forecasts ensuring optimal stock levels

• Process, capture and follow up on all orders

• Optimize the supply of raw materials

• Develop procurement plans appropriate to assigned products and services

• Liaise with the accounts department regarding supplier account queries

• Develop material cost forecasts or standard cost lists

• Assist with stock take capturing

• Implement new or improved supply chain processes

• Ad-hoc duties as required

 

REQUIREMENTS

• Qualification in procurement or similar

• Two to three years’ FMCG environment experience in a similar position advantageous

• Knowledge and understanding of the FMCG environment advantageous

• Must be computer literate in MS Office

• Knowledge and experience in working with Pastel or Syspro will be advantageous

• Good written and verbal communication skills in Afrikaans & English

• Strong negotiating and networking skills – VERY IMPORTANT

• Good business sense and a professional manner

• Deadline driven and results orientated

• Problem analysis and decision-making

• Enthusiastic and inquisitive approach to product sourcing and development

• Ability to work independently, on own initiative and be proactive

• Ability to prioritise work and handle pressure

 

SALARY

Negotiable
